Thursday Toots with Sharon

Hey, hey! More of you have posted your layouts on Ed's Orange Challenge - so cool! So many talents out there!

Here are 3 super sunshiney ones that I spotted this week!

"About a Boy" - by hplovecraft - This layout is seriously orange....I love all the different shades and tones, the different textures and the 'loose' feel of it - airy and full of sunshine!

About a boy_hplovecraft

"Charmer" by sindywong - The montage of photos of this little charmer are just too cute! And I love how the monster is looking at the little sweetheart putting on the crown....maybe because they're both wearing striped t-shirts!

"Don't Steal My Orange!" by joyinthe lord - This is a cool twist on the challenge - the orange is in the photos and the title!  Did you see how she spelt the word orange - some clever letter substitution going on there - so smart!

There are a few days left to the challenge! keep 'em coming!

Till our next update....HAPPY SHOPPING & SCRAPPING!

Wednesday with Wati

Hey Peeps!!
Sorry for not posting last Wednesday, my uncle passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning, and it just got a little too rush that day.
Anyway, here I am back on Wed again :)

I would like to share with you what I did recently playing with the SSFs Sweet Marmalade pps. The range is just awesome :) And trying to add something different to the layout, I had layered the Hambly Grandpa's Wallpaper metallic gold overlay with a brown Bazzil cardstock. I like the 'brand new' pattern paper I had created :)
All these are available at Laines.

See you peeps again next Wed :)

Cheers!!

Technique Tuesdays With Sharon

Today's Share:  RAINBOW EMBOSSING!

Here' something fun to do with all those yummy embossing powders you bought!

Get This:

1.  Rubber stamps / clear stamps (large background stamps are nice for this)

2.  a few colours of embossing powder

3.  embossing ink / glue pad

4.  heat gun.

Do This:

1.  Stamp on desired surface with embossing ink or glue pad

2.  carefully pour first colour of embossing powder on one portion of the stamped image.  Clean away excess.  Then carefully repeat with the other colours you have (Make sure you clean up after each colour! Otherwise you'll get a whole lot of mixed up embossing powder)

3.  Once whole image is covered with embossing powder.  Heat with heat gun to set.

Try This:

There isn't anything very 'new' about this technique, but its a fun way to 'colour' chipboard.  I challenged myself to make a mini album without any patterned paper and used this technique to make the chipboard pages happy and colourful:

Bet this would look great on cards! And Christmas is coming.....

Merdrey's Monday Moods

Today's Mood: CALM

Just the two of us

One of the things i really love during my recent trip to Japan was that i saw the Sea of Japan. The vastness of the sea, the sun rays and the sea breeze has a really calming effect and i loved it. This photo was taken at Niigata, Japan and we strolled for almost 3 - 4 hours before we finally saw it. It was worth the walk =)

IMG_1117_web IMG_1121_web

So for all the effort, i decided that this photo deserve my well-hoarded Road Trip collection by October Afternoon. Using almost everything from the same collection makes scrapping easier, as everything matched perfectly =) Just spend time thinking about where to put what!

Though i admit i did take a few days to complete this layout, according to when i first posted the sneak on my blog! I couldnt stop adding the Road Trip embellishments to it...they all matched!!

IMG_1124_web

The journaling on this layout was printed on the photo itself as there is enough 'activity' on the layout without me adding more journaling strips around =)

Maybe it is time for you to take the well preserved packed of coordinated goodies out and have a go. I did feel quite happy using the papers i love and i think you will too! =) Have a great week ahead!

hugs, Merdrey
